SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 3 / Over 3 million admissions!

A special New Year's gift: SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 3 reaches a milestone as the first German film since 2020 to surpass 3 million admissions, earning the Golden Screen Award.

As the most-seen German film of 2024, SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 3 has already surpassed the great successes of the previous films in the franchise. Additionally, Part 3 earned the coveted Bogey prize, which is awarded for reaching 1 million admissions within the first ten days of release. The first two films in the franchise, released in 2021 and 2022, were previously awarded the German Film Award as the most-seen German cinema films.

The producers, Alexandra and Meike Kordes, also received the Bavarian Film Prize in the Family Entertainment category for Part 2 in 2022.

After the tremendous success of the first two films, the third installment of SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS hit the big screen on 26 September 2024. This new chapter finds the magical community facing a threatened bankruptcy, planned deforestation of the local forest, an accident at the natural history museum, and the preparation for a big performance – all while navigating turbulent events and difficult decisions.

For the third installment of the successful film series, director Sven Unterwaldt returned, as he did for the second film. The movie is based on the bestselling children's and young adult book series of the same name by Margit Auer, which has sold over 10 million copies in the German-speaking region and has been translated into 26 languages. The main cast includes returning actors Loris Sichrovsky, Emilia Maier, Leonard Conrads, Emilia Pieske, Lilith Johna, Justus von Dohnányi, Heiko Pinkowski, and Milan Peschel. New additions to the cast are Luis Vorbach as Silas, Christina Große as Miss Cornfield, Meltem Kaptan as the museum director, and Freshtorge as the social media manager.

The official audiobook of SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 3, featuring the original voices and music from the film, is available on CD and for streaming, narrated by Johannes Steck.

The film was produced by KORDES & KORDES Film Süd, in co-production with LEONINE Studios and LIGHTBURST Pictures. It was supported by FilmFernsehFonds Bayer, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, the German Federal Film Board, and the German Federal Film Fund.
