On October 5th, it’s finally here: curtain up for the 2024/2025 season of the award-winning event series MET LIVE IM KINO! Benjamin Bernheim, who captivated cinema audiences last season with his stunning Roméo, takes on the title role in Offenbach's LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN (The Tales of Hoffmann). Later in October, the new production of the contemporary opera GROUNDED by American composer and two-time Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori will follow.
In November 2024 and March 2025, Lise Davidsen, the new prima donna at the Met, will take on the title roles in Puccini's TOSCA and Beethoven's FIDELIO. In between, MET LIVE IM KINO will present Michael Mayer's new production of Verdi's AIDA with Angel Blue and Piotr Beczała in the lead roles in January 2025. In April, the highly anticipated debut of German conductor Joana Mallwitz at the podium of the Metropolitan Orchestra will follow with Mozart's LE NOZZE DI FIGARO. In May, music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct Strauss's one-act opera SALOME in a new production by Claus Guth.
